Island pupils will benefit from more than £1.5m-worth of modernisation work to school buildings over the coming three years.
The government cash has been released after a study showed that good quality buildings boosted pupil performance.
It is not yet known how the money will be spent by the Isle of Wight Council.
But senior education officer Andy Seaward said: "We welcome any extra money targeted at improving standards of school buildings."
