HEAT one of Southampton talent show Urban Flava 2003 saw a clutch of talented youngsters vying for the chance to show off their skills in front of entertainment industry bigwigs.
The competition - run by Southampton Institute, the BBC Roots Project and the African Caribbean Centre - saw young artists rap and sing a mix of self-penned material and cover versions.
Held at the African Caribbean Centre, each hopeful had just two minutes to impress judges.
Up for grabs is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to showcase their talents in front of some of the music industry's most influential figures, as well as winning a cash prize and getting to cut their winning track at the Institute's recording studios.
The panel of judges for the final will include Sony Records' top talent scout and the co-director of new talent of Wildstar Records.
The semi-final takes place today at the African Caribbean Centre on Trinity Road and the final is next Friday at St Mary's Stadium.
