A PREGNANT ewe which almost died when it was savagely attacked at a Mapledurwell farm has given birth to twins.
The ewe suffered serious injuries when it was clawed from behind by a big cat or dog in a field belonging to Gary's Farm, Tunworth Road, in February.
Alan Hutton, who runs the farm with his father David, thought the three-year-old ewe would have to be put down because the attack was so horrific.
Alan said: "It was touch-and-go for a while. The external injuries were bad enough, but we didn't know how the ewe had been affected internally.
"The stress could have killed her or made her abort her lambs.
"Luckily, she's shown herself to be a strong girl and pulled through. We're really delighted."
