Top young Hampshire motor cycle racing prospect Guy Farbrother lost his life in a road accident close to his home last week.
The 18-year-old from South Wonston near Winchester had just begun his second season in the Red Bull Rookie Honda team in the British 125cc Championship.
Just last August, Farbrother thrilled a big Thruxton crowd with a superb last-lap victory in the 125cc event.
He began the current campaign with a fourth place at Silverstone last week and a Red Bull spokesman said: "Guy achieved so much in his first year with the team.
"It was taking on a really good shape and Guy had a promising career ahead of him.
"He will be greatly missed by all of us here and our condolences are with his family at this sad time."
