Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the Old Stoke Road, Stoke Charity, Winchester on Monday night.
The accident happened at 7.25pm at the junction with East Stoke Farm.
A blue and white Honda NSR250 motorcycle, ridden by 18-year-old Guy Farbrother, from Wonston, near Sutton Scotney, was travelling south along the Old Stoke Road when it was in collision with a Peugeot 405, driven by a 37-year-old local woman.
The rider was thrown from his machine and sustained injuries which were initially thought to be serious, but not life-threatening.
He was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, where his injuries were assessed as very serious and he later died whilst undergoing surgery.
The woman car driver suffered minor shock and whiplash injuries.
Any witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw a blue and white Honda NSR250 motorcycle in the Sutton Scotney/Stoke Charity area from 7pm last night are urged to contact Winchester Traffic on 0845 045 45 45. The officer in the case is PC Peter Polson.
