Southampton golfer Kevin Saunders is among the top 100 South Region PGA professionals battling for a place in the Glenmuir Club Professional Championship on Monday.
Left-hander Saunders, from the Dibden Golf Centre, is playing in the regional qualifier at Camberley Heath, along with two other big Hampshire hopefuls - Meachers Masters champion Rob Edwards from Lee-on-the-Solent and Jon Le Roux from Worldham Park. The top 17 go through to the final.
Former Hampshire professional Bob Cameron went on to win the Glenmuir last year before earning his card for the European Seniors Tour.
Saunders, who won the South Region title two years ago, will be up against Alan Lovelace, the man who took the title off him last year. Another ex-Hampshire professional in the field is Laleham's Hogan Stott, a member of the PGA Cup team against the United States in 2000.
