IT could be the most expensive football match he has ever watched.
But Arsenal fan Simon Sovroy would still rather see his team lift the FA Cup than get a £1,600 refund on the diamond engagement ring he has just bought for his fiance.
Lifelong Gunners supporter Simon Sovroy, 30, of Rockstone Lane, Southampton, bought the ring for Denise Fisk, 29, from Eclipse Jewellers, Hanover Buildings, Southampton.
Saints-mad jeweller Kim Rose has pledged to refund all sales of diamond jewellery between now and the FA Cup semi-final, if Southampton go on to win the final.
If Saints beat Watford at their semi-final clash at Villa Park on Sunday, April 13, and Arsenal beat Sheffield United at Old Trafford, Simon's and Kim's teams will come head to head.
Despite the potential to get the ring and his money back, Simon said: "Although it's a difficult choice, I would still rather Arsenal won the final than that I got my money back. They're my team and I had to get a ring anyway.
"Anyway, even if Arsenal do lose, I'll still be a winner because I'll get my money back and I'll be able to put it towards our wedding later this year."
Since starting his offer on March 10, Kim has so far sold around £40,000 worth of diamond jewellery that he will have to refund if Saints win the final.
