ONE of the south's leading airports is searching for disabled people to help crew the voyage of a lifetime.
Southampton Airport are sponsoring four places for Hampshire people with physical disabilities to join the Jubilee Sailing Trust on a trip on-board their Lord Nelson tall ship.
Staff from the airport will also join the 40-strong mixed ability crew on the journey from the Thames in London to the ports of either Amsterdam in Holland or Bruges in Belgium.
After a six-day trip, beginning May 12, the boat will end up in Southampton.
The Lord Nelson and sister ship Tenacious are the only two tall ships in the world to have been specially designed for physically disabled people to participate fully.
Jan Halliday, director of communications at BAA Southampton Airport and trustee of the Jubilee Sailing Trust, said: "Southampton Airport is a long term supporter of the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Due to the success of last year's voyage and the positive feedback we have received from staff, we are delighted to offer this opportunity once again for local people. It is a real 'voyage of a lifetime' and the experience which can be shared by everyone."
To take part in this adventure you must write to Lauren Nixon at the Jubilee Sailing Trust Southampton Sailing Adventure, Hazel Road, Woolston, Southampton, SO19 7GB before April 14 or telephone 023 8044 9108.
