Paddy James gave Hugh Lewis the worst possible start to life as Brockenhurst boss - by netting a hat-trick in a 4-0 win.
Pint-sized striker James was recalled to the starting line-up after being dropped a week earlier.
A thrilling run by Mark Osman resulted in a clinical James finish at the near post on seven minutes.
James doubled the lead with a 20-yard drive on the stroke of half-time and a bullet header from Martin Whiddett immediately after the break put the result beyond doubt.
James completed his treble by rounding Brock 'keeper Adie Holman and slotting home and there was still time for Scott Bundy to thump a header against the Brock bar.
Lewis said: "The job is a massive one but I didn't expect anything different. The club's a sleeping giant but when you're a side that is used to being beaten your confidence is bound to be low.
"My mind is on pre-season training - I can't make a proper opinion on players until the end of the season."
Totton boss John Robson said: "Paddy has not been doing the business recently but he was outstanding on Saturday. I've seen him play like that before I was Totton manager and it was good to see him take some of the pressure of Martin Whiddett, who people usually expect to be the match winner.
"He told me he wasn't feeling too well before the match but his first two goals were terrific.
"He and Martin are a big part of this club's future, they work very well together."
Whitchurch's survival hopes were dented by a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth Poppies.
Mark Dancer and Lewis Till gave the visitors a two goal lead before Shaun May pulled one back for the bottom of the table side
Supersub Adam Lavis put Lymington & New Milton on the way to a 3-0 win at BAT.
Midfielder Lavis, a tenth-minute substitute for the injured Andy Knighton, opened the scoring with a cross that sneaked in the top corner.
Kevin Gill doubled the lead with a 75th minute penalty and Mattie Town struck the third from 15 yards with five minutes left
BAT boss Andy Leader said: "It was a typical end of season performance from us, our passing was very sloppy."
Two goals from Yashwa Romeo secured a 3-2 win for managerless AFC Newbury at Downton, while a double from Jamie Sturgess gave Wimborne Town a 4-2 home win against Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
A Ross Edwards goal gave Christchurch a 1-0 win at Moneyfields, while Kevin Reacord and Pompey trialist Justin Bennett gave former champions Andover a 2-1 win at Alton Town.
Poole-based referee Chris Powell was not the official in charge of last week's Fareham v Bournemnouth Poppies match, where three players were sent off. The Daily Echo is glad to put the record straight.
