Pair to seal their love with clown ceremony
ROLL up! Roll up for one of the craziest and most colourful weddings Hampshire has seen!
Southampton-based clowns Crazy M and R-Jay can think of no better way to seal their love than to have a clown-themed wedding at the city's register office on May 17.
The couple are throwing a big custard pie at tradition and will tie the knot in clown wedding outfits with balloon bouquets, to the sound of circus music and in front of an audience including 20 of their clown friends.
Crazy M, 27, and R-Jay, who claims to be "eleventeen", live in Laurel Close, Woolston, and are well-known throughout the region for their "Krazy Kapers" double act show.
"We make each other laugh and we met as clowns, so a clown wedding seemed the perfect thing to do," said Crazy M. "I think I'm more excited about it than I would be if we were just having a normal wedding."
The couple met six years ago at Blackbushe market and have been looking forward to their big day ever since R-Jay proposed to his girlfriend at a Bolton clown convention in front of 200 clowns.
"When we decided to get married and thought about whether to have a clown wedding we just thought: 'let's go for it!'" said R-Jay. And they certainly have.
The couple, wearing matching black outfits with silver stars, will walk into the register office to the sounds of circus music, and a version of You Are My Sunshine sung by children will play as they sign the register.
Guests will munch on children's party food at the reception.
Clown friends are travelling from all over the country to help Crazy M and R-Jay celebrate.
An adult bouncy castle, face painter and giant games will be available and the couple will perform a ten-minute sketch show for their guests.
