HAMPSHIRE pair Colin Monk and James Wade will be among the world class field taking part in the inaugural International Darts League (IDL).

The tournament, which carries a prize find of over £100,000, provides a week of BDO-ranked televised action.

In addition to the prize money, which includes a Champions cheque in excess of £20,000, the IDL will have a very special prize for a 9-dart 501: a brand new Nissan Almera Tino.

Dutch TV station SBS-6, established as the main darts broadcaster in The Netherlands, already screens three major tournaments featuring BDO/WDF players.

They are the World Professional Darts Championships at Lakeside Country Club, the World Darts Trophy in Utrecht and the Winmau World Masters at the Spa Royal Hall, Bridlington.

Now they will be showing the IDL on nine successive days in The Netherlands and greater Europe.

This new competition will be played in Champions League style, with an opening eight groups of four players each competing in round robin style over the best of 11-leg matches.

Following this initial Group Round, the two top players in each group will then play the best of 13-leg matches, again in round robin style.

From the quarter-finals onwards, the IDL will be played in traditional knockout style.

The event will be played at the 2,000 plus capacity The Hague venue.

Finals night at the Cobweb Solutions Fareham Men's Winter League takes place on Monday, April 7 at Hill Park (7.30pm).
