DETECTIVES investigating the suspicious death of a woman found floating in a marina on the Isle of Wight have confirmed the victim's identity.

Police named her as 58-year-old Faye Mary Wilson, of Redshank Way, Binfield, Newport.

Her body was found floating in the River Medina at about 11.30am on Sunday.

An ambulance crew was called but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist confirmed the cause of death as drowning.

Detectives investigating the woman's death arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Police said he had been questioned and released on bail, pending further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
