Sleeping Beauty - Esso Music and Drama Group, Waterside Theatre (ends tonight)
Sleeping Beauty is staged in the more traditional mode and gives the company - with 11 scenes and 17 musical numbers - an opportunity to entertain both young and old.
The sets - by Curtain Call award-winner Alan Vickery - are superb and complemented by excellent lighting and effects.
As Prince Florizal, Dawn Hall's singing is pleasing to the ear and marries well with that of Princess Beauty (Sam Sutherland) in their duet. Wizard Wombosa (John Yapp) provides the storyline and invokes much audience participation. The male comedy duo (Glenn Jenks, Chris Moore) and the female (Helen Jones, Betty Coultax) both contribute to the fun, as does the excellent pantomime horse.
