There's still time to enter the local history competition in the Daily Echo. Entries can be on any aspect of local history in the region and up to 1500 words long.
You can write about anything, from a relative's memory to a piece of in-depth research: the rules are that the piece must be true and must work as a piece of writing. Photographs are not necessary, but if you have them, please indicate on your entry, and supply an address and daytime phone number with your entry.
The judge is Andy Bissell a historian and former deputy editor of the Daily Echo. The winning entry will be published in the Echo.
The closing date is February 21.
