Hampshire have a provisional agreement with the ECB to host a match between the West Indies and New Zealand in 2004, while Pakistan v Sri Lanka is the other probable fixture in 2006. If all goes well, the agreement provides the potential for an England match to be played at West End. The ECB is also considering staging 'other significant matches' over forthcoming seasons. Hampshire's managing director, Nick Pike, commented: "This is great news both for us and for cricket enthusiasts in the south."
