Woolston hotshot James Taylor helped himself to a hat-trick in Havant & Waterlooville's 3-3 Premier Division draw at Folkestone Invicta.

But it was another Southampton player Neil Davis who caught co-manager Mick Jenkins' eye as man-of-the-match.

"The two Southampton lads were outstanding all afternoon, but it was Neil who got my vote," he said. "The boy's fitness levels are unbelievable. He looked as fresh in injury-time at the end of the game as he had when it started and that's credit to the way he looks after himself.

"Neil got a bit of a raw deal when he was left out of the side earlier in the season because we weren't getting results, but he's kept focussed and plugging away. I've got a lot of time for him."

Taylor, who had scored his hundredth Hawks' goal a week earlier, twice gave them the lead over a struggling Folkestone side, both from Davis assists - but, incredibly, the visitors slipped 3-2 down before Taylor completed his hat-trick from Chris Ferrett's deep cross from the left.

Jenkins reflected: "To score three away from home and only get a point is disappointing for both James and the team.

"I felt it was two points down the drain because we missed plenty of other good chances. We could have been three up before Folkestone had even scored.

"James himself would admit that he should have had another one or two and Dean Blake missed two sitters at the end. It was an eventful 90 minutes but it's extremely disappointing not to have picked up all three points against a Folkestone side who are second to bottom and haven't won at home all season."
