SEASONAL cheer was brought to the Piam Brown children's ward at Southampton General Hospital when Dawson Chant and Willy from panto Cinderella came to visit.

Dawson, who plays Baron Hardup in the panto, and his puppet Willy, came to the ward to present a family ticket for the city Mayflower Theatre show to 17-year-old patient Kate Clifft.

Kate, from Westfield Close in Hamble, has been a patient at the ward since June when she was diagnosed with leukaemia. She said: "I'm really pleased, I haven't been to a pantomime for a long time."

Kate is especially looking forward to seeing Brian Conley, who stars as Buttons, as she is a big fan.

"I went to see him switch on the Christmas lights in Southampton, but I've never seen him perform live before," she said. Catherine Jevon from Leukaemia Busters, who presented the tickets, said: "We're glad the tickets are going to someone who we know is going to appreciate them."
