Police are appealing for help in identifying a couple captured on security video stealing an antique clock.

They were filmed in the Bakhtyiar Gallery in the High Street, Stockbridge, at around 2pm on Friday, December 6th.

Detectives say the woman distracted staff by asking lots of questions about particular items while the man went downstairs and picked up a Swiss marble antique clock from the display.

He hid the clock, worth £6,000, under his coat and the pair then left together.

The man had short light brown hair and wore a navy-coloured anorak and casual trousers while the woman had very long black hair and wore a dark jacket, dark skirt and boots.

Officers say the clock, an 18th-century ormolu Grande Sonnerie mantle timepiece with an alarm, is unique.

The case has flowers on the side and the Roman dial is signed "Robert". It has blue-steel moon hands and a triple-barrel movement, raised feet and a beaded ormolu bezel on white enamel face.
