A TEAM of eight men from Stannah Microlifts in Andover raised more than £4,000 for the Naomi House hospice in Sutton Scotney when they took part in the Three Peaks Challenge in June.

The team of Glen Peters, Simon Mac-Donald, Ian Harris, Kevin Burrows, Pete Whitehead Jnr, Luke Bradbury, Carl Chur-chill and Colin Hamblen climbed over 11,000ft to the summits of the highest points in England, Scotland and Wales in 19 hours 19 minutes - coming in 18th out of the 76 teams that started.

Colin Hamblen recalled: "Our start time was 6.28pm on 23 June with teams leaving at three minute intervals from the foot of Ben Nevis," he said.

"We walked to the summit in two hours 12 minutes stopping briefly for photos and refreshment.

"Visibility was poor and we were in mist from about a third of the way up the mountain with some snow still near the summit.

"Our descent took one hour 32 minutes.

"Then it was straight into the minibus and a six hour drive to Scafell.

"Start time at Scafell was 4.15am and it took one hour 37 minutes to the summit and one hour 30 minutes to descend. They climbed Mount Snowdon in just one hour 36 minutes.
