AFTER the previous week's six-goal drubbing by Shanklin in the county invitation cup Street Ladies were struggling to get a side together but team manager Mike Warwick turned things around by shuffling the pack with new signing Nikki Millings coming in for unavailable captain Jo Hulford-Funnell

Youngsters Vera Todd and Emma Burberry moved into midfield and battled hard in a fast and furious game in which the only missing ingredient was goals. Both sides had chances but failed to find a way past two in-form 'keepers with Street's Gemma Blake pulling off some inspired saves to earn the player-of-the-match award.

Emma Burberry, Tracey Hughes and Rebecca Warwick all went close for Street but Winchester defended well to deny the visiting attack in which free-kick specialist Anja Clapham wasa always a threat.

"It gives us something to build on in the New Year," said Warwick. "With the league table still wide open anything is possible and we still have more than half our games still to play."
