THIS is the man wanted in connection with a robbery at a Southampton bingo hall.

Police released the CCTV still of the man who was involved, with three others, in the incident at the Mecca Bingo Hall in Portswood on Sunday night.

The man shown in the picture entered the front of the club at about 10.50pm, as three members of staff were locking the premises.

He told them he had left some property inside and they allowed three accomplices to enter the building.

The group then overpowered the three members of staff and tied, bound and gagged two of them before forcing the third to lead them into the cash room and hand over the evening's takings.

The four men escaped with a large cash sum, which has not been disclosed for security reasons. After the robbers left the third member of staff was able to free the other two.

Detectives believe the man in the picture would have been seen by people leaving the hall after a Christmas function.

Det Insp Dick Pearson, from Bitterne CID, said: "The picture is quite clear and we are hoping that somebody must recognise this man. We urge anyone who does to call us immediately."

The man pictured is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, aged in his mid 20s with cropped, light brown hair.

He was clean shaven and spoke with a local accent. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Bitterne CID on 0845 045 4545 or Crime-stoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
