FIREFIGHTERS were called to a traffic accident involving one of their own appliances in Eastleigh on Saturday afternoon.
The emergency services were called to the incident, near the sliproad to the M3, after reports of a collision between a fire engine and a car.
The accident happened shortly before 1pm at the junction of the A335 Leigh Road and Passfield Avenue.
The fire engine had been en route to a call-out when the crash took place, though another vehicle from Eastleigh was immediately despatched to cover that incident.
One passenger in the car was taken to hospital as a precaution, though no one is thought to have been seriously injured.
Both vehicles were damaged in the crash and a police investigation into the cause of the accident is now under way.
