New Inn 7 Lamb Inn 0

NEW Inn won through to the quarter-finals of the North Hants May Cup after disposing of division one Lamb at Brighton Hill.

Lamb started with only 10 men, due to a transport mix-up, and they paid for it, falling three goals behind in the opening 20 minutes. Goals from Craig Luckens and Pete Ashcroft were followed by the third from Damian Gowen, with a shot from the halfway line.

Up-to-strength, Lamb improved and Serge Holland had a couple of one-on-ones with Andy Lear but failed to score.

New Inn looked satisfied with their big lead and could have conceded goals from Leon Bonner and Ben Searle before they hit form again in the 65th minute. Luckens then put away a pass from John Hawke and Darren Clapson soon made it 5-0.

In the last 10 minutes, New Inn scored twice more through Luckins, for his hat-trick, and Gowen, his second.

Norleywood 1 Oakley Ath Res 3

Oakley Reserves, the lone remaining Basingstoke League representative in the Hampshire Junior B Cup, won again to earn a home tie against Talbot Rise.

On the edge of the New Forest, Oakley were handed an own goal in the fourth minute when a shot from Alex Smale deflected in off a defender. Smale netted the second in the 15th minute, after he accepted a return cross from Ian Perryman.

Oakley conceded a penalty in the 20th minute but Tony Moore saved well and it was the 60th minute before Paul Pullen rose well to head in a cross from Tom Hunkin. The Southampton League side scored a late consolation goal.
