LYMINGTON & New Milton's 3-0 win at home to Cowes Sports last night has put them top of the table - for 24 hours at least.

A win for Eastleigh tonight will put them back at the head of affairs but Graham Kemp's Linnets did all that was asked of them at Fawcetts Field.

Steve Strong netted two goals in the first half hour, opening the scoring on 15 minutes by side footing home a Liam Green cross at the far post.

Lee Phillips laid off another Green cross for Strong's second and then wrapped up the scoring himself on 65 minutes after Strong returned the compliment.

Kemp said: "It was a very compact performance from us, our keeper didn't make a save until the 85th minute."

Bemerton Heath harlequins won 2-1 at troubled Brockenhurst despite playing the last half an hour with nine men.

Danny Aplin headed the visitors into the lead at the far post on 25 minutes and on the stroke of half-time Jamie Boswell fired home a drive to restore Bemerton's advantage following a 27th minute Brockenhurst equaliser.

But it was in the second half when Steve Slade's side had to dig deep.

Goalkeeper Colin Hop-kins was sent off in controversial circumstances after he was adjudged to have handled outside his area.

And he was soon followed by Dan Newman after the centre back protested at the decision.

But the visitors held on, much to Slade's delight. "It was a magnificent effort," said the Bemerton boss.

"Jamie Boswell scored a tremendous goal and the boys did brilliantly to hold on after what I thought was a bad decision to send the two lads off."

Blackfield & Langley conceded a goal in the first minute before losing 3-1 at home to Bournemouth Poppies.

Blackfield were 2-0 down at the break and scored a consolation through Simon Davis in the final minute after the visitors had added their third.

Caretaker manager Tony Feeney was in charge in the absence of Terry Smith and said: "We snatched chance after chance.

"That happens when you're at the bottom but we should have been level at the break."
