BROCKENHURST treasurer Tina Colverson has admitted the club is in danger of folding unless they can attract more matchday helpers.
Colverson and husband Ray have been almost single-handedly keeping the Wessex League club going since chairman Dave Stansbridge and secretary Terry Simpson left Grigg Lane earlier this season.
But the Sway-based couple have reached the end of their tether and are gravely concerned that if they walk away, there will be no one to replace them, signalling the end for the 104-year-old club.
Rumours doing the rounds in non-league circles during the past week have suggested that Brock will not be able to fulfil their league fixtures this term while others have hinted the New Foresters could be no more by Christmas.
And although Colverson admits the Badgers are in a healthy enough financial position to continue into the new year, she concedes that does not necessarily guarantee the survival of the club.
She said: "If the club folds it will be because Ray and I feel we can't carry on.
"We're spending our lives keeping this club going and it may come to the stage when we say we can't do it any more - and that's a real possibility.
"We did have a lot of help on Saturday for the FA Vase game against Winchester which buoyed us up a bit, but then it's flat again for the next game and we need anyone who can help to come forward and help us as soon as possible.
"We're one of only a few clubs around who own our ground and full-time social club.
"Bashley and Lymington & New Milton don't own theirs, we've got a smashing club here and I don't know why people don't want to get involved."
She added: "Financially, touching wood, we are managing at the moment. Unless something unexpected happens, we'll certainly be alright until after Christmas. It's people we need.
"I realised from quite early on that the budget was too high and we spent many weeks going over and over it and in the end it was agreed with Peter Moore and the players that the budget would be cut.
"If we had carried on the way we had been, we wouldn't have lasted another month.
"Maybe people are being put off because they think we want their money. But although that would be nice, it's actual physical help we need more than anything, just bodies."
Meanwhile, Colverson also dismissed rumours that Chris Collinge is poised for a return to Brock following speculation that the former Brock boss was putting together a rescue package to help the ailing club.
