New Forest Ice Cream has given a new meaning to 'frozen assets' after the company relocated part of its business to a new £1.25m factory unit, complete with 12,000 sq ft of freezer space, at Hounsdown Business Park, Totton near Southampton.
In a sale-and-build development brokered by Humberts commercial property agents, New Forest Ice Cream is now on the expansion trail.
Founded by Lawrie and Sue Jenman and their children Graham, Niki and Chris almost 20 years ago, the highly successful Lymington-based ice cream company was looking to expand production capacity and meet the need for greater storage facilities as well as streamline their distribution process.
Humberts was able to offer the perfect solution, a 0.8 acre development site on the Hounsdown Business Park with a special purpose-designed new 14,000 sq ft factory unit containing some 12,000 sq ft of frozen storage capacity constructed by Trant Construction.
"The site offered ready access both to our production plant in Lymington and the region as a whole. Humberts was pivotal in allowing us to achieve our goal of expanding production in Lymington and at the same time carry more stock both for ourselves and other manufacturers for whom we distribute," explained managing director Lawrie Jenman.
"The purchase and build went extremely smoothly and were completed in a little less than a year. We are delighted with the end result, 300 tonnes of frozen storage capacity coupled with manoeuvrability and accessibility. The company is continuing to grow and we also have the benefit of expansion land."
