Brian Young signed off his year as captain of Alresford Golf Club in great style.
The day before his captaincy was due to end, Young won the Hampshire Alliance Reg Pier Memorial Trophy on his own Alresford course, which was in good condition despite the heavy rainfall.
Young accumulated 39 points to win by just one point from the club's match secretary, Nick Male. Corhampton's Geoff Feilder was third.
Simon Pink (Meon Valley) won the professionals' competition with 38 points - four ahead of Kevin Saunders (Dibden) and Rhys ap Iolo (Alresford).
In an afternoon Stableford, Alliance captain John Slade (Dibden) led his team of Peter Hatch and Vic Mullins to a one-shot victory.
Apologies are due to Kevin Taylor. The Alliance gave Dave Butcher credit for a hole-in-one in their last event at Weybrook Park. In fact, it was his Petersfield partner Kevin Taylor.
