DISABLED youngsters at a Hampshire school are getting an early Christmas present of £350 thanks to generous diners at a Southampton restaurant.
The money for Cedar School in Rownhams, Southampton, was raised by staff and customers at Mustang Sally's in Carlton Place, which held a raffle for a giant cuddly gorilla.
The raffle raised £287 through ticket sales, before regular customer Frank Mellor, of On Line Shipping in Carlton Place, made the total up to £350.
Frank drew the winning ticket - making 21-year-old Southampton student Louisa Schreiber the owner of the limited edition Beanie gorilla.
Restaurant owner Penny Fountain said: "The gorilla - called Elvis - was given to me as a present and I thought it would be nice to use him to raise some money for a local school.
"I used to do fundraising for Mcmillan Nurses and visited Cedar School and was very impressed.
"I thought it would be nice to give them some money."
