GREEN-fingered schoolchildren have just completed planting nearly 200 trees in their school grounds to create a nature walk and educational woodland.
Bursledon Junior School wood was becoming overgrown before teachers decided to act and cut the rogue scrub down.
Now the wood is back to its best thanks to a grant from the Tree Council that covered the cost of the 188 trees. Teacher Hillary Bell said: "They are so enthusiastic about it that they wanted to plant a lot more trees than we actually had.
"All of the 360 pupils had a go at planting and now it's their wood - it's not just a place in school and we want them to use it more."
