Ringwood Town blasted Pirelli General 7-0 on Saturday and manager Bob Lane joked: "I was more happy with the nil!"

He explained: "We've been struggling to keep the goals out, so I was especially pleased we kept a clean sheet against Pirelli.

"But there was a sting in the tail. I'd promised the lads I'd buy them all a drink if they didn't let any goals in, so, towards the end, I was starting to pray that Pirelli might get a consolation."

There was no consolation for Pirelli, though. Just a miserable trek home after their most comprehensive defeat for many a long season.

They just couldn't handle the Ringwood front-line partnership of Carl Fleet and Jason Lovell, who scored five goals between them. Fleet finished up with a hat-trick to outscore his more illustrious partner, who was playing Dr Martens League for Bashley in his heyday.

Steve Geary and Gary Orr got the others for Ringwood, who did most of the damage with four goals in the first half.

Vosper Thornycroft also struck four times before half-time against Portsmouth RN.

Marc Diaper, Dean Byrne, Mickey Moffatt and Jason Hurst hit the target in what Vospers manager Dave Diaper described as "our best 45 minutes of the season."

The Navy Boys shut up shop in the second half and the scoreline remained the same.

Elsewhere, Poole Town took a two-goal half-time lead against Fawley through Richard Elmes and Matt Homer then the bottom side staged a spirited fightback in the second half to claw a goal back.

Andover New Street stretched their unbeaten run to ten games as Robbie Swain and Nick Turpin steered them to a hard-earned 2-1 win over Amesbury.

Hythe & Dibden halted a five-match losing sequence when an Andy Lonsdale goal earned them a 1-1 draw with Liss.

Lonsdale converted a Lee Conner cross early in the second half, then Liss took control and equalised from the penalty spot.

Locks Heath entertained Stockbridge knowing that victory would lift them into the top three.

But they lost 2-1 and had striker Aiden Trevaskis taken off with a knee injury seconds after he had laid on their only goal for Danny Jones.

Division 1 leaders Hayling Utd bounced back from defeat last week with an emphatic 8-1 win over Yateley Green. Dave Goldring and Alan Wright scored two apiece for United.

Verwood, who were leading the division earlier in the season, were relieved to leave Micheldever with a 0-0 draw.

Micheldever created more of the chances and top scorer Mark Green missed the best of them.

QK Soton eased into a two-goal lead against Division 2 table-proppers Broughton through Paul Jones and Lee Rankin.

Then the village side pulled one back at half-time and went on to win it with two second-half goals.
