DANNY Wallace was a thorn in the Birmingham side when Saints last met Birmingham in league or cup action.
Before today's clash, the teams had not met since the 1985-86 season when Saints did the double over a Birmingham side on their way to relegation from the old First Division.
Wallace grabbed the only goal in December 1985 when Saints triumphed at The Dell.
And he was again on target, along with Glenn Cockerill, in Saints' 2-0 win at St Andrews in April 1986 in front of a paltry crowd of just 5,833!
Saints also defeated Birmingham in the third round of that season's Milk Cup.
Following a 1-1 draw with the Blues away, David Puckett on target for the visitors, Saints won 3-0 at The Dell with two goals from David Armstrong (one penalty) and another from Wallace.
And the Blues goalkeeper in all four games - none other than current England No 1 David Seaman!
Truly, 1985-86 was a bizarre season if you're a young Premiarship football fan these days.
Not only were the crowds of under 6,000 for top flight football, but that season's Milk (League) Cup final saw Oxford thrash QPR 3-0 in front of almost 100,000 at Wembley.
How times change.
l Saints fans will soon be able to enjoy the thrilling Premiership victory over Arsenal again and again as the club release '3-2 - Part Two' on video and DVD.
It has the whole of last month's win over the Gunners at St Mary's and highlights of the previous 3-2 success against the north London side when Matthew Le Tissier scored the last Premiership goal at The Dell at the end of the 2000/01 campaign.
The video is out on December 9 and costs £12 while the DVD will be available on December 20 at £15.
The DVD makes it possible to go straight to the best bits.
It was suggested that there should be a multi-camera angle facility with the 'Arsene-cam' view from the Arsenal dug-out - but it missed the free-kick for the first goal, the penalty, the sending-off and all other controversial incidents!
The Saints club store is also stocking James Beattie t-shirts.
The women's version has the slogan 'Beatts Score with me' and is available in long-sleeve in small/medium and medium/large, both at £12.
The men's version has the message 'Same old Beattie - always scoring' in three adult sizes - medium, large and extra large - all at £12 and in youth's size at £10.
l Chesterfield manager Dave Rushbury has revealed trialist Shayne Bradley could become a permanent fixture at Saltergate if he continues to impress.
Ex-Saint Bradley, who was at Division Two bottom side Mansfield until the end of October, has been training with the Spireites for three weeks.
