FOOTBALL frenzy gripped Southampton as fans flocked to meet their sporting heroes.
Striker James Beattie and goalkeeper Antti Niemi were the only males at the exclusive ladies' night at the Friends Provident stadium in St Mary's in Southampton.
More than 200 women bought reduced price merchandise to be signed by the pair.
The players took turns to stand in an inflatable goal as the women took penalty shots.
Jane Day, an office manager from the Isle of Wight, won the star prize in a 'guess the players legs' competition - a meal for two with Matt Le Tissier. She said: "If I could have wished for anything for my husband for Christmas it would have been that - he's a huge Matt fan."
At the Saints store in WestQuay, defenders Paul Williams and England international Wayne Bridge were busy signing for fans too.
A spokesperson for the premiership club said: "Hundreds of people turned out. I think it's because we've been doing so well recently."
The Saints are unbeaten at home this season.
