ONYX Environmental Group is set to triple the amount of megawatts delivered to the National Grid with the next phase of its cutting-edge approach to recovering energy from waste throughout Hampshire.
Gas engine facilities at Onyx's landfill sites at Paulsgrove, Somerley and Bramshill are already delivering 4.6MW of electricity to the National Grid.
Over the next two years this will be boosted as Onyx introduces gas power plants at three additional landfill sites across the county.
Said Richard Bray, operations director of Onyx in Hampshire: "With landfill still representing the disposal route for 80 per cent of waste produced throughout the UK, introducing landfill gas engines and maximising energy recovery is crucial."
