Winchester All Saints Flower Club welcomed demonstrator, Jan Meloy, whose topic, aptly, was "Christmas".
The first arrangement, accompanied by seasonal music, was a highly-effective combination of a large silver urn with silver twigs and white lilies.
Next, Jan filled a very large green basket with yew, ivy berries, red carnations and dark red roses.
For the third display she used two gold cones, filling them with gold sprigs and small pink roses. A wrought stand was then used with red amaryllis, trailing ivy and black ivy berries.
After this, she created a wonderful arrangement in a rustic ring containing two large white candles, surrounded by fatsia and bergina leaves, cream and green ornamental cabbages, green orchids, lime green apples and variegated hebes.
Jan's final offering was a stunning one, truly typifying the "Spirit of Christmas". It consisted of a stainless steel stand containing candles and glass droplets, incorporating white Singapore orchids, lilies and mauve lisianthus.
The evening ended with the lights lowered and candles lit to the accompaniment of carols. The monthly competition, entitled "Scarlet and Gold", was won by Carol Hopwood.
