KEN Lee, a former employee of the Hampshire Chronicle, died last Friday, aged 76.

Born in Brassey Road in the city, he had also worked for Warrens, printers, as a machine feeder, and was an enthusiastic member of the Territorial Army, based at Newburgh House, Winchester.

Ken worked in the machine room of the Hampshire Chronicle in the1980s and was later a civilian driver for the police at North Walls.

Ken, who lived in Winchester all his life, was known for his chatty, personable style with everyone.

"He was a lovely man, we got on fine," his only son, Roger, said. It was Ken's habit to go into Winchester from his home in Winnall each day and talk to many friends and acquaintances.

He is survived by his wife, June, son, Roger, daughter-in-law, Christine, a grandson, grand-daughter and a great-grandson who is aged seven months.

Roger Lee, who lives in Basingstoke, said his father's health had deteriorated after a fall at home.

Editor, Alan Cleaver, said: "Ken was one of Winchester's treasures. He always had a smile and time for a chat."
