Test Valley deputy mayor, Mrs Pat West, was asked to make some particularly unusual promises when she was invested as a honorary member of the Beaver Scouts.
"I have been given an official log book and promised I will be kind to people and keep my bedroom tidy!" said the Andover councillor.
"It all came about after a new beaver scout group paid a visit to the mayor's parlour in the Guildhall when they said 'there's one thing we haven't done - invested the deputy mayor'."
Pat accepted the honour.
The investiture took place at a special fundraising event held in Andover which was attended by a large number of the town's beaver scout colonies. Members of the 1st Andover, 3rd Andover, 4th Goodworth Clatford, 9th Andover, 14th Andover (Stockbridge), 22nd Andover and 23rd Andover were at the church centre in Smannell Road to watch as their new member was admitted.
"The event was part of a fundraising effort for BBC Children in Need," said assistant district commissioner for Beaver Scouts, Sylvia Baker.
"Beavers were asked to pay £1 to bring their teddies to the picnic and for two months they were asked to do sponsored good turns around the house.
"We have already raised £333.21 and it will probably go a little higher than that."
