AFTER leading 3-0 and 4-2, Waterside A were held 5-5 by Snows A in the Southampton Table Tennis League Premier Division.
County captain Mark Butler starred for Waterside, comfortably winning his three matches, with Lee Dredge and Christos Hannides each winning once.
Generation II have opened up a six point lead at the top after the first round of matches.
They won 8-2 this week against Alpha with Rod McMullan pulling out wins against Graham Toole and MikKi Sinanan.
Snows C and Snows B had a hard fought match with the B team, eventually winning 6-4.
Robin Plunkett was unbeaten for the B side, supported by Don Child who won twice and George Cole with one win.
Dave Russell had a brace of wins for the C team and Steve White won once.
The bottom two sides met with Snows D having an easy 10-0 victory over Insurance A. The Snows team was Chris Shetler, Glenn Wilshere and Keith Middleton.
Waterside B hold on to the top place in Division 1 after being held to a draw by Alpha C, despite being 5-2 up at one stage.
John Stubbs won his first game of the season as Alpha D crashed 8-2 to Waterside C. Pete Humphry was the other winner for Alpha. Rob Doe got a maximum for Waterside with Rob Carr and Idris Vernall each winning twice.
With St Denys A, Snows E and Alpha B not playing this week, Hedge End A jumped up to second place after defeating Four T's A 6-4.
Chris Butt still remains unbeaten after another maximum.
Waterside D are still top of Division 2 after fielding only two players and defeating BAT B 6-4.
Dave Goodyer was undefeated and Julie Eldridge only lost to Keith Male.
Dan Ashton recorded his first maximum of the season for Waterside E as they beat Hedge End B 7-3. Albert Harding won twice with Terry Mills picking up two for the losers.
In Division 3, bottom of the table Hospitals obtained their first point despite losing 7-3 to Waterside J.
Waterside H did not fare so well and went down 8-2 to third placed Simmarians.
Simmarians were without John Simmonds but three from Brian Thacker and two each from Chi Yau and Pat Edghill, together with the doubles, gave them maximum points.
Ordnance Survey B gained only one point when they were beaten 6-4 by top of the table Four T's C.
Martin Ceresa was unbeaten for the winners and so retains his 100 per cent record, while Doug Taylor lost for the first time this season.
Southampton West B were doubly unfortunate in not only having to field a reserve but were then still a player short as the Dunkason twins, Jo and Nicole, lost 10-0 to Insurance B.
