Paul Sales made it four goals in four games since returning from injury to pave Bashley's way into the quarter-finals of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
But it was 21-year-old Craig Davis who proved the Foresters' ultimate hero in a 2-1 victory at struggling Fleet Town.
Bash took a 26th-minute lead when Sales headed in Darren Robson's corner, but Fleet retaliated through skipper Rob Marshall and nearly scored again ten minutes from time when Jamie Bull clattered the upright.
Extra time was beckoning until Davis buried the 89th-minute winner after Sales had headed down Craig Anstey's cross.
It was Sales's first full 90 minutes since his groin operation and manager Barry Blankley said: "I toyed with taking him off 20 minutes from time but he wanted to play on. It was a big test for him on a heavy pitch but he came through it well.
"Fleet battled hard and most probably think they deserved something out of the game."
Basingstoke crushed Ringwood Town 7-1 at the Camrose Ground through Neville Roach (2), Jason Graham (2), David Ray, Craig McAllister and Kevin Gibbens,
Winchester's victory over Gosport Borough will come as ominous news to Wessex League outfit Brockenhurst, who face John Robson's giantkillers in the FA Vase at Grigg Lane this Saturday.
