NOT even the threat of fire service strikes could stop Father Christmas hitching his ride to meet shoppers at a Fareham supermarket.
Courtesy of White Watch at the town's fire station, Santa himself was delivered to the door of Asda's Newgate Lane branch in some style with flashing lights and sirens in full swing.
Father Christmas then spent the day in his grotto meeting his younger fans and collecting donations for this year's Children in Need appeal, for which the store has already raised £1,800.
