POLICE are hunting the driver of a car that ploughed into the back of another car driven by an 82-year-old man.
The pensioner was left with severe whiplash and an injured right leg after the Corsa he was driving was shunted 100 metres along Cupernham Lane in Romsey by a silver Rover. The driver and passenger of the Rover then ran off.
According to police the Rover was reported stolen around the time of the accident that happened at 4.30pm on Saturday on the junction with Homefield.
Investigating officer PC Mike Duke said: "The driver of the Rover did not stop to check how badly injured the elderly man was.
"Thankfully passers-by and residents to were able to help the elderly man.
"The pair of them made off along Cupernham Lane towards Romsey so we would ask anyone who saw two white males aged about 20 who were around at that time to contact us.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who saw the Rover, registration P719 GBL, being driven before the time of the accident."
Anyone with information can contact PC Duke at Romsey police station on 0845 045 4545.
