Army cadets from Winchester spent the weekend testing their skills to the limit in the annual Hampshire Cup challenge at the Longmoor training area, where they won the first aid trophy.
Youngsters aged 13 to 16 made up teams of ten to take on a variety of challenging tasks, including the assault course, map reading, drill and turn-out, first aid, a march and shoot and tug-of-war.
Points and trophies are awarded for each section, with the team gaining most during the weekend winning the Hampshire Cup.
The competition has been running since World War II and was revamped to its present format in 1988. It is aimed at the younger cadets and is their efforts alone that are scored; adult instructors supervise, but do not take part.
