WHILE the first team are beginning to score the goals their play has been meriting, Saints Reserves paid the price for not taking their chances in a 1-0 defeat at Charlton last night.
Their cause was not helped by the absence of Kevin Davies, who would have been disappointed to have missed out with a gashed knee after his double last week.
Davies is making a desperate bid to make his name at Saints before his contract expires at the end of this season - and the Reserves could have done with him as they enjoyed the lion's share of possession and created a host of chances.
But it was Matt Svensson who popped up for the winner after 65 minutes on his come-back from injury, converting from close range after a tame cross could not be cleared.
