The New Forest village of Sway is celebrating one of the results of the season.
They have struck it rich with a huge Football Foundation grant to upgrade their pitches and changing facilities.
The UK's largest sports charity has awarded the village a £140,532 cash injection that will go towards the drainage and restoration of Sway's full-sized football pitch, renovating the existing pavilion and providing four new changing rooms, two officials' changing rooms, toilets, a kitchen and a clubroom.
Not only will the current users benefit, but it will open new opportunities for budding players and already Sway Parish Council has plans to set up a new mini soccer side, plus under-16 boys and girls teams.
Peter Lee, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: "All footballers deserve the opportunity to play on good pitches and to have access to modern changing rooms. Sway Parish Council deserve our congratulations for their excellent project and for their dedication in bringing modern facilities to hundreds more players."
Sway Parish Council chairman Gwen Meaden smiled: "What a massive, massive boost for boys and girls' football in our small village!
"We have worked long and hard to achieve good facilities in the heart of our community.
"We have had some setbacks and even lost out on other grants from the lottery, but we never gave up.
"The Parish Council and the Jubilee Field Management Committee, under the chairmanship of John Rushton, were determind not to let the youngsters in the village down.
"This award makes everything worthwhile."
