A YOUTH worker is campaigning to turn a local attraction into a national competition venue.
On Saturdays Wayne Pembridge supervises teenagers at Bartley Skate Park Totton.
"We've got some really great kids," said Wayne, who's a teacher at Testwood School. "With a bit of investment we could be producing champions."
Bartley Skate Park was built four years ago with Totton council help.
The converted sewage works draws skaters from outside the county. It is one of the best parks for miles around. But in the winter kids are forced off their skate boards, BMXs and in-line skates by the weather. Wayne is seeking council funding to put a roof on the park.
He said: "If we put in the work now, we could really cash in later."
Wayne can be contacted via Totton and Eling Town Council on 023 8086 3138.
