MEMBERS of Southampton Gymnastics Club pulled out all the stops to produce one of the club's most successful showings at last week's British Sports Acrobatics and Tumbling Tournament.
All 13 members of the Southampton team shone in the Stoke on Trent tournament, which has become one of the main national events in the Sports Acrobatics calendar.
Donna Barden, Caroline Turner and Jessica Smith combined to win gold in the women's group, while Abigail Marsh and Rachel Easton came fourth against very tough opposition in the women's pair category.
The senior mixed pair of Matthew Gregory and Kirsty Fargher won silver, as did the junior mixed pair of Matthew Flye and Cassie Beale, while Helen Briggs was a creditable fifth in the senior women's tumbling.
Emily Frampton, Kelly Page and Carly Andrews scored excellent technical marks in the junior women's group, but were let down by disappointing difficulty and artistry marks and finished tenth.
Following their impressive display in the tournament, the top performers in the Sports Acrobatics Squad now look to the club's annual gala at Southampton Guildhall on December 8.
More than 350 athletes will take part in the gymnastics spectacular that will also see the chief executive of British Gymnastics, Alan Summerville, presenting the club with the British Gymnastics High Performance status.
POISED: Abigail Marsh, top, and Rachel Easton.
