HAMPSHIRE's two drivers had contrasting fortunes in the recent Network Q Rally of Great Britain.
Co-driver Alyson Marlow, from Fareham, finished 36th - eighth in class N4. The 36-year-old map-reader was partnering Canadian Patrick Richard in a Subaru Impreza in the four-day, 1,024-mile event, won by Norweigan Petter Solberg, also in a Subaru.
"We suffered from lack of brakes and a blown turbo at times - it was a really tough event," said Alyson.
"But the experience was fantastic again and to get to the finish - something we didn't expect to see - makes it all the more satisfying."
Justin Dale's first experience in a factory-entered Mitsubishi Lancer ended in disappointment when he was forced to withdraw during stage three when in 41st place.
"I was braking at the end of a long straight, flat out in sixth gear, and approached a left turn but as we came around the bend I was blinded by the sun," said Justin, from Chilbolton, near Stockbridge.
"We rolled several times and the car looked a mess, but the radiator had also been holed. We got out of the stage and drove back to a service area, having to stop and top up the radiator several times with water from streams!
"But the officials looked at the roll cage inside the car and deemed it too badly damaged for us to continue. It was a very frustrating end for us."
