Five hundred candles will illuminate Winchester Cathedral for the annual candlelight concert tomorrow (Saturday).
Music will be performed by the Choir and Orchestra of St John's, from London, under John Lubbock.
The programme celebrates St Cecilia's Day with music composed in tribute to the patron saint of music.
William Boyce's Overture to St Cecilia's Ode (1739) will be followed by Benjamin Britten's joyful Hymn to Saint Cecilia, a setting of the words by his friend, W.H. Auden. The second half of the concert features St Cecilia Mass by Haydn.
The Orchestra of St John was founded in 1967 by John Lubbock, whilst he was still a student at the Royal Academy, with the aim of building an orchestra which would make music accessible to people from all walks of life.
OSJ Voices have appeared regularly with the Orchestra of St John and established themselves as one of the foremost choral groups.
The choir was founded by its chorus master, Jeremy Jackman, who enjoys a busy international career.
