BOXING prospect James Dean has marched into the semi-finals of the national championships with another classy display.
The Waterside boxer showed all his silky skills to completely outbox the Western Counties Champion in the quarter-finals at Frome in Somerset.
The 18-year-old's dominance was such that his opponent only landed three scoring punches throughout the entire fight.
He is now due to box in the semi-finals of the All-England senior novice 'A' semi-finals in December.
Dean, from Totton, trains at the Waterside club in Holbury three nights a week.
His dedication to boxing means that he runs up to eight miles every other day and never drinks.
Waterside chairman Dave Potts said: "He is a tight, compact boxer, with great boxing ability, speed and natural fitness.
"He is looking superb and we have high hopes for him."
Waterside's 11-year-old Lloyd Goddard also came through with an impressive win at the weekend at Haversham, Sussex against a tough local opponent.
Goddard makes his assault on the national schoolboy's title after Christmas.
The Waterside club holds training at Holbury every Monday and Wednesday, with sparring on a Friday night.
