Winchester police and vehicle examiners have carried out spot checks on taxi cabs.
As a result of the safety inspections two cabs were immediately taken off the road.
In total 25 vehicles were examined between 5.30pm and 9.30pm last Friday.
Police and four Vehicle Inspectorate officers were stationed at the Moat House Hotel car park in Worthy Lane.
A third cab driver was ordered to fix faults within two weeks or face prosecution.
And six other drivers were advised of minor defects which were rectified at the scene.
PC Nick McKinnon said: "All the drivers were spoken to and advised of their responsibilities."
