Shoppers in Winchester will be treated to a festival of light with community carol singing tomorrow (Saturday).
Winchester Singers will lead the community singing in the High Street. The event will be launched with the Win FM roadshow in town from 3pm.
This will be followed by family entertainment such as face-painting and juggling at The Brooks Shopping Centre with a Children's Christingle service and Procession of Light from 4pm.
Winchester Singers will lead the community carol singing at 4.15pm accompanied by the Blendworth Brass Band.
Many community organisations, including the Magpie appeal and the churches of Winchester, will be there to join in the fun.
The carol singing will be held opposite St Maurice's Couvert in the High Street and The Festival of Light, organised by Winchester City Centre Partnership, is just one aspect of the Winchester Christmas festival.
Other attractions will be The cast of Little Red Riding Hood who will be entertaining the public and assisting the Mayor of Winchester, John Steel, who will lead the countdown to the switching on of the Christmas lights at 4.30pm.
City centre manager Graham Love said: "The Festival of Light offers a real alternative for visitors and Winchester people this Christmas.
"Winchester will be alive with celebration and entertainment for the young and young at heart.
The Festival of Light closes with a procession of light, led by Father Christmas and his sleigh, from St Maurice's Couvert to the Buttercross.
